Two Ukrainians took part in the cycling competition, including the border guard Serhii Dubov.

The race was a joint 20 km ride. Serhii Dubov won gold in the C5 category (for participants with limb injuries).

He came fifth overall.

It should be reminded that the team representing Ukraine at the United States Air Force Trials 2024 in the USA includes two border guards - Vadym Hilchuk and Serhii Dubov.

Serhiy Dubov is currently serving in the Lviv border guard detachment. He met the beginning of the full-scale russian invasion in Mariupol. On 24^th March 2022, the positions, where Serhii was stationed, were shelled by artillery, and Serhii lost his arm. He was evacuated to a hospital at Azovstal. He wrote about his motivation: "Sport is my lifestyle. Not everyone understands this connection, because sport is intense exercise that can be accompanied by pain. But this is the sense of it. As long as we feel pain, as long as we overcome obstacles, as long as we try to improve ourselves, that's when you can feel our heartbeat and real life."

"The United States Air Force Trials 2024 is a domestic competition for veterans and US military personnel who have been injured, wounded or ill during their military service. This year, the organisers of the United Air Force Trials 2024 invited the Ukrainian team to join the qualifying competitions. The competition will take place from 04 to 16 March 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA.

The United States Air Force Trials 2024 competition in Ukraine is organised by the Ministry of Veterans' Affairs in cooperation with the Ukrainian Veterans Fund, the NGO Come Back Alive, the Stratcom Ukraine Strategic Communications Centre and the NGO Games Invictus Ukraine.
